About this talk

In this part of our journey, we will step back in time and immerse ourselves in the world of Jewish childhood in the shtetl, the small towns that were once the heart of Jewish life in Eastern Europe. From the moment a child was born to the joyous celebration of their wedding day, we will explore the daily lives of shtetl children and the many factors that shaped their futures.

Together, we will discover their toys, the education they received, the friendships they formed, and the family bonds that surrounded them. We will look at the food they ate, the holidays they celebrated, and the joys and challenges they faced. Through stories, photographs, and memoirs, we will reimagine the innocence, curiosity, and resilience of childhood in these unique communities.
